The Ministry of Water Resources has begun implementing new clean water projects across several Niger Delta communities that have long struggled with access to safe drinking water.

The initiative includes constructing boreholes, upgrading treatment plants, and installing pipelines to supply water to remote settlements.
Residents of some communities in Bayelsa and Delta States said the project has already started improving daily life, especially for families who previously had to walk long distances to fetch water.

Environmental activists praised the effort but urged the government to also address pollution caused by oil spills, which continue to contaminate local rivers and streams.
The Ministry said additional environmental protection measures will be introduced later in the year.
