Nigeria has signed new trade agreements with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) aimed at improving cross-border commerce and boosting regional economic growth.

The agreements cover simplified customs procedures, reduced import tariffs, and the establishment of new trade corridors to ease movement of goods between member states.
During the signing ceremony, Nigerian officials emphasized that stronger regional integration will help local manufacturers access larger markets.

Traders in border communities such as Seme and Jibia welcomed the development, noting that delays and high customs fees have affected businesses for years.
Economists say the agreements could significantly reduce the cost of transporting goods and increase trade volume across West Africa.

ECOWAS leaders praised Nigeria for taking a leadership role in strengthening regional cooperation.
