The Federal Ministry of Communications has announced a massive expansion of broadband infrastructure across the country through new fiber-optic projects.
The initiative is part of Nigeria’s National Broadband Plan, which aims to provide affordable high-speed internet access to 90 percent of the population.

Speaking at a press conference, the Minister revealed that new fiber cables would be deployed across 27 additional states, prioritizing underserved rural communities and schools.
He added that improved broadband coverage would support digital learning, e-commerce, and remote work opportunities for young Nigerians.

Telecom companies partnering on the project said they are committed to completing the rollout ahead of schedule.
Tech experts noted that Nigeria’s digital economy could grow rapidly if data costs drop and connection speeds improve.
